Real Madrid issued an official statement announcing the details of Dani Carvajal’s serious injury that he sustained during the Merengue’s 2-0 victory over Villarreal on Saturday.
According to the statement, the Spanish international suffers from a torn cruciate ligament and another in the lateral ligament of the knee, as well as a cut in the hamstring tendon, and will undergo surgery in the coming days.
Although the statement did not specify the duration of Carvajal’s absence from the stadiums, he will need at least a year to recover and return to participate in matches again.
There are many doubts that Carvajal, given his 34 years of age, will be able to fully recover from this serious injury and play again.
However, the player confirmed in media statements that he will fight to regain his fitness, as he said, “I am already excited to start the recovery process, and to return stronger than ever.”
The Spanish full-back’s contract with Real Madrid expires at the end of this season, and it is expected that the management will renew the contract in a gesture to confirm the extent of its confidence in him and to provide him with the necessary support to confront his current crisis.
