Al-Hilal Club set a historic record after defeating Al-Ittihad 2-1 in the semi-finals of the Saudi King’s Cup.
This became the seventh victory achieved by Al-Hilal over Al-Ittihad in all tournaments this season, a number that had never happened before in the history of all football.
The beginning of Al Hilal’s victories over Al-Ittihad was in the quarter-finals of the Arab Club Championship last summer, with a score of 3-1.
Then, “The Blue Wave” won the Saudi League, first leg 4-3 in Jeddah, and back 3-1 at Kingdom Arena.
The two teams faced off again, but this time in the quarter-finals of the AFC Champions League, and Al Hilal won the first leg in Jeddah 2-0 and the second leg in the Kingdom Arena 2-0 as well.
Then the two teams met in the final of the Saudi Super Cup in the Emirates, and this time the coach Jorge Jesus’ squad defeated its counterpart with a score of 4-1.
This time, the victory was in the fourth tournament in which the two teams met. What is strange is that Al Hilal played the match with ten players from the 42nd minute after Milinković-Savic was sent off.
Al-Hilal, the King’s Cup holder, will meet the winner of the match between Al-Nasr and Al-Khaleej, scheduled to be held on Wednesday at Al-Awal Park Stadium.
