Paris Saint-Germain confirmed in an official statement the absence of its player, Nordi Mukele, from Barcelona’s match in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals due to injury.
Mukiele suffered a concussion that caused him to leave Clermont Foot’s last match 13 minutes after the start, and it would be risky for him to participate against Barcelona.
“Following the examinations conducted by the neurologist, Nordi Mukele will continue the concussion recovery protocol in the coming days,” the club said in its statement.
Mukiele’s absence will undoubtedly be influential, given that he is the only right-back available on Paris Saint-Germain’s roster in light of the suspension of Achraf Hakimi.
For this reason, the French media are indicating Luis Enrique’s intention to rely on Marquinhos at right-back rather than centre-back as the only capable option now.
It is noteworthy that, in addition to Hakimi and Mukiele, PSG will lose the services of Bernicel Kimpembe to injury, while Barkola can be relied upon, even as a substitute, after recovering from his recent injury.
