Thomas Tuchel, coach of Bayern Munich, expressed his disappointment at the statements made by the honorary president of the Bavarian club, Uli Hoeness, about the coach not being good at developing players, and he considered it tantamount to “diving into his football honor.”
In controversial statements, Hoeness said, “I do not blame Tuchel for what is happening at Bayern. We often have dinner together and I have contact with him. He does not think he is able to develop Musiala, Pavlovic, or Davis, and that is why he wants other players in their place, while I think We have to develop them.”
Tuchel responded to these statements with great regret, saying, “This is far from the truth. I feel that my football honor has been stabbed.”
He continued, “I don’t know how to respond to this conversation? If I have proven anything over the past years, it is that I deal well with academy players and can develop them.”
As for whether he would engage in a discussion with Hoeness about this, he replied, “The fact that the conversation comes 4 days before the Real Madrid match gives it a different flavour. It is a frustrating attack for me as a coach.”
He concluded, “I don’t want to talk about that again. We have a difficult week. We will face Real Madrid, then Stuttgart, then Real Madrid again. Our focus is entirely on that now.”
It is noteworthy that Tuchel will leave Bayern Munich at the end of this season, and his successor at Allianz Arena has not yet been determined.
