Bayern Munich’s hopes of achieving any title this season ended after being eliminated by Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-finals.
Harry Kane participated in the two-legged matches, but his efforts failed to change one of Bayern Munich’s worst seasons in the last two decades.
Kane joined from Tottenham for 100 million euros, and was hoping to achieve his first title in his career when he was twenty-nine years old.
But Kane’s start was with a 3-0 loss to Leipzig in the Super Cup at the Allianz Arena, then he bid farewell to the German Cup in the first round against Saarbrücken, one of the third-tier teams.
The failures continued, after Bayern lost the German League title for the first time in 11 years, and ended with their failure to win the European crown against Real Madrid’s Remontada at the Santiago Bernabeu.
This is the first time that Bayern Munich has gone without trophies since the 2011-2012 season, and perhaps this embodies what is known as the “Harry Kane Curse.”
Perhaps going without a trophy gives Kane optimism that next season he could achieve the treble, as this is exactly what happened after Bayern Munich’s disappointing 2011-2012 season.
