The doors of European clubs are still open to Cristiano Ronaldo, as a report from the “Sportbible” website indicates the possibility of the current Al-Nassr star returning to the Old Continent next summer.
Ronaldo has a contract valid with Al-Nassr until the summer of 2025. However, he may not mind returning to Europe if he has the opportunity, even for one year before he retires from football.
According to the report, Bayer Leverkusen has a great interest in signing Ronaldo in the next summer Mercato, based on the desire of his coach Xabi Alonso, who has a very close relationship with the Don.
The duo collaborated at Real Madrid for many years, and on every occasion Alonso praised Ronaldo and considered him one of the best in history, so it is no wonder that he is interested in joining Leverkusen if this news is true.
There is no other source that has confirmed or denied this information yet, and it remains unknown how the 39-year-old will react to the matter if it is true, given the huge salary difference at the time.
Ronaldo currently receives up to 200 million euros annually with Al-Nasr, but if he moves to Leverkusen, he will not receive even a quarter of this salary.
At the same time, there is an illogicality in Leverkusen’s interest in Ronaldo when looking at the average age of the German team’s players, and Alonso was keen for his entire team, or the vast majority, to be young players.
It is noteworthy that Ronaldo, upon his move to Al-Nassr, stressed that “his mission in Europe is over” and that he wants to write history in a new continent like Asia.
The Portuguese star succeeded in shining with Al-Nassr, as he scored 62 goals with the Saudi club and made 15 assists in the 65 matches he played in all tournaments.
It remains to be noted that Leverkusen is the champion of the German League this season, and the club has the longest unbeaten streak in the history of the five major leagues, with 49 matches.
