Al-Ahly continued its dominance in the African Champions League, after achieving the title for the twelfth time in its history by defeating Esperance 1-0 in the second leg of the 2024 edition final.
The first leg between the two teams in Tunisia ended in a scoreless draw, with Al-Ahly winning the title thanks to an own goal scored by Roger Oholo in the third minute.
Thus, Al-Ahly maintained the African Champions League shield for the second year in a row, setting up a date with its compatriot Zamalek in the African Super Cup.
Zamalek had won the Confederation Cup title for the second time in its history, after winning last week over RS Berkane 1-0 at Cairo International Stadium.
Historically, Zamalek and Al-Ahly met once in the African Super Cup, and the talk here is about the 1994 edition, which was held in South Africa, and the White Knight won with the famous Ayman Mansour missile.
The meeting will be renewed after 30 years, with the hope that Al-Ahly will avenge this famous defeat, while Zamalek also hopes to avenge the loss of the 2020 final.
Below we learn together about the date of the Al-Ahly and Zamalek match in the 2024 African Super Cup and more.
When is the 2024 African Super Cup between Al-Ahly and Zamalek?
There have been some rumors recently about the possibility of holding the African Super Cup between June 25 and June 30.
But most sources said that this news is incorrect, and that the Super Cup is supposed to be held at the beginning of next season, as is always the norm.
What is certain so far is that the match will be held on Saudi soil for the second time in a row.
The last Super Cup was held between Al-Ahly and Ittihad Al-Asimah, and the Algerian club ended in victory with 1-0.
Given the date of the last African Super Cup, it is expected that the 2024 edition will be held between Al-Ahly and Zamalek at the end of next September.
