The Cadena Cope network reported that Real Madrid is considering not allowing Andrey Lunin to travel with the team delegation to London on Thursday due to his infection with influenza.
The Ukrainian goalkeeper has been absent from training for the last 4 days due to a severe cold, and so far he has not been able to recover from it and return to participate with Carlo Ancelotti’s squad.
According to the latest report, the Real Madrid management is considering keeping Lunin in Spain until it is confirmed that he has fully recovered, for fear that he will transmit the virus to any other player and cause him to miss the Champions League final.
So far, this step has not been confirmed, but it has become highly possible, while the player’s presence at Wembley against Dortmund remains a matter of doubt, although the most likely thing is that he will join the Real Madrid delegation at a later time and will be on the match roster.
Lunin’s absence – if it happens – will not have an impact on Real Madrid, as coach Carlo Ancelotti previously made his decision to rely on Thibaut Courtois in the final, and it seems that the decision has become certain in light of the promising goalkeeper’s recent illness.
It remains to be noted that Real Madrid will only lose the services of the duo Aurelien Tchouaméni and David Alaba in the final match due to injury.
