A surprising decision from Manchester United regarding the future of Ten Hag

Manchester United’s management retracted its previous decision to dismiss Erik ten Hag from his position as coach of the team, and decided to continue him at least for next season.

Hours before the FA Cup final against Manchester City, English newspapers confirmed that United’s management had decided to dismiss Ten Hag, regardless of the result of the match.

But after United’s outstanding performance and the Dutch coach’s success in leading his team to a 2-1 win and winning the title, many things changed inside Old Trafford.

According to all sources, the final decision came on Wednesday to continue Ten Hag in his position next season, with negotiations to renew the coach’s contract also beginning in the coming days.

Ten Hag’s contract with United extends until the summer of 2025, and Sir Jim Ratcliffe, owner of the English club, wants to increase the amount of support for him and show confidence in him by renewing the contract for another two years.

For his part, Ten Hag is very happy with this step and wanted from the beginning to complete the work he started with United, and perhaps the approach he took in relying on young players was the main reason for his continuation.

It is noteworthy that Ten Hag, over the course of two years with United, finished third and eighth in the Premier League, won the FA Cup once and the Carabao Cup once, while he exited the Champions League by finishing bottom of his group.
