Mbappe announces his position on participating in the Paris Olympics

Kylian Mbappe announced that he will not participate with the France Olympic team in the 2024 Paris Olympics, in compliance with the wishes of his new club, Real Madrid.

The Spanish club had announced since last March that it would not allow its players to participate in the Olympics for fear of fatigue, and sent the French Football Federation a statement informing them of that.

Over the past months, French President Emmanuel Macron tried to change this decision in order to allow Mbappé to participate in the Olympics, and the results remained unknown.

Mbappe, who is currently participating with France in Euro 2024, was asked about participating in the Paris Olympics and answered clearly, saying, “Real Madrid’s position is clear, so I will not participate in the Olympics.”

He also added, “I joined a new team and I have to respect its decision. I completely accept that and I wish the French team success and that we achieve the gold medal.”

It is noteworthy that the coach of the Olympic team, Thierry Henry, has included the duo Alexandre Lacazette and Philippe Mateta to his list, leaving one more over-age player who will be announced at a later time.
