Kylian Mbappe suffered a serious injury during France’s first match in Euro 2024 against Austria, which resulted in a 1-0 victory for the Roosters.
Mbappe’s head hit the shoulder of Austria defender Kevin Danso, causing blood to flow from his nose immediately and he left the Merker Spiel stadium in the final moments of the match.
After the match, Mbappé was taken by ambulance to Dusseldorf Hospital, where he underwent tests that confirmed that he had a broken nose.
Initially, there was concern that the Real Madrid star would need to undergo surgery that might keep him from participating in the remainder of Euro 2024, but reassurances came quickly after he underwent more accurate examinations.
According to the President of the French Football Federation, Philippe Diallo, Mbappe will not undergo nose surgery.
Radio Monte Carlo reported that Mbappe’s condition is reassuring, but the prevailing trend within Didier Deschamps’ squad is to rest him in Friday’s match against the Netherlands, with the expectation that he will return in Poland’s final match in the group stage.
No one wants to risk Mbappe for fear that the injury will worsen, but it is certain that the 25-year-old will be present in the rest of the Euro matches, and his career will not end because of this simple fracture.
Mbappe quickly reacted to his injury, when he posted a tweet in which he wrote, “Any thoughts on masks?” Indicating that he will wear a protective nose mask during his participation in France’s upcoming matches in Euro 2024.
