Barcelona star rejects a huge Saudi offer and puts his club in trouble!

Barcelona player, Clement Lenglet, rejected an offer to join the Saudi club Al-Ittihad in the current summer transfer period, according to what was revealed by the newspaper “Mundo Deportivo”.

Lenglet spent last season on loan with Aston Villa, and the previous season he was also on loan at Tottenham, and his contract with Barcelona is still extended until the summer of 2026.

Al Ittihad tried to attract Lenglet based on the desire of sporting director Ramon Blanes, who knows the player’s abilities well after they met together for a period in Barcelona.

However, the French international responded by rejecting the idea of moving to the Saudi League, despite the huge salary that Al-Ittihad offered him, in an effort to continue his career in the European continent.

With Lenglet’s decision, it has implicated Barcelona economically, as the player’s salary next season will be 16 million euros annually, a number that heralds a major crisis within Camp Nou.

Aston Villa was the one who bore 75% of the player’s salary during his loan, but with the English club announcing its lack of intention to buy Lenglet, he will return again to Barcelona so that the Catalans will bear his huge salary.

Barcelona will look for a way out for the 29-year-old during the current summer Mercato, although it will be difficult to find a club willing to pay half of his current salary given the decline in his levels in recent years.
