France coach Didier Deschamps refused to answer clearly about Kylian Mbappe’s participation in the upcoming Poland match, but he revealed a significant improvement in the player’s condition and opened the door to his presence at the end of the Euro 2024 groups.
Mbappe suffered a broken nose during Austria’s first Euro match, and remained on the bench in the Netherlands’ last match, which ended in a goalless draw.
The French star participated in a friendly match against Paderborn youth, and it is assumed that he has medical permission to participate, provided that he wears a protective nose mask.
When Deschamps was asked about the possibility of Mbappe returning to play against Poland, he replied, “Mbappe will be in better condition next Tuesday than he was on Friday (the day of the Netherlands match).”
He also added, “Everyone will know in time whether he will participate against Poland or not, but I can confirm that everything is moving in the right direction.”
He concluded, “Mbappe is recovering well and the pain is decreasing day by day. I think he will get used to the mask, which will affect his vision slightly.”
It is noteworthy that France beat Austria 1-0 and then drew 0-0 against the Netherlands, so it needs to win over Poland in order to ensure passage to the round of 16.
