Zamalek issued an official statement announcing that it will not play the Al-Ahly match scheduled for Tuesday in the twenty-seventh round of the Egyptian League.
Egyptian media had previously indicated that a breakthrough was on its way after the Minister of Youth and Sports met with the President of Zamalek on Monday evening.
But it seems that things did not go as desired for Zamalek, and the Club Association did not meet Zamalek’s four demands to continue playing Egyptian League matches this season.
Zamalek’s statement stated that the withdrawal was due to “compellent circumstances” related to the absence of the principle of equal opportunities established by the rules and principles of football.
According to Egyptian newspapers, an agreement was reached between Zamalek officials and the Football Association, considering that this statement is an official notification so that Al-Ahly will not go to Cairo Stadium on Tuesday, to prevent the general appearance of Egyptian football from being extremely bad.
3 points will be deducted from Zamalek’s balance for withdrawing from the match, in addition to a fine, and another 3 points may be deducted at the end of the season, according to what the President of the Club Association, Ahmed Diab, said.
If the matter is repeated – given that Zamalek said that it will not play any match until its demands are met – another 3 points will be deducted and the pace of penalties will escalate, eventually leading to the club being relegated to the fourth division.
