Modric scores a historic goal, but Croatia bids farewell to Euro 2024! (video)

Luka Modric scored a historic goal by all standards for the Croatia national team against Italy at the conclusion of the Euro 2024 group stage matches.

Modric’s goal came in the 55th minute, after he missed a penalty kick that was saved by Gianluigi Donnarumma, but fortunately for him in the next attack, he was able to put the ball past Luciano Spalletti’s squad.

With this goal, the Real Madrid star became the oldest player in history to score a goal in a European Nations Cup competition at the age of 38 years and 289 days.

At the same time, Modric became Croatia’s all-time top scorer in the Euro Championship, equal to Ivan Perisic, each with 4 goals.

Unfortunately for Modric, Italy scored a last-minute equalizer through Mattia Zacani, and thus the Azzurri officially snatched the ticket to the round of 16.

Croatia has no hopes of progressing to the round of 16 and has exited Euro 2024 by achieving only two points and cannot be among the best three.
