The German national team captain and Barcelona star, Ilkay Gundogan, demanded that the German “Manschaft” emulate Real Madrid, specifically in the mentality possessed by the royal club.
Germany is preparing to face Denmark in the round of 16 of Euro 2024, and during the press conference, the Barcelona star did not hide his admiration for Real Madrid and the necessity of following his example.
Gundogan said, “Real Madrid is the most successful club in the last decade. If you look at them, you will find that they are never afraid and remain calm at all times of the match.”
He also added, “We have to be well aware of when we have momentum and when to exploit mistakes and punish the opponent, otherwise this is what will happen to us in the end.”
He continued, “The fans must understand that there are stages in which we will retreat backwards, even if they view the matter negatively, but this is the nature of football. We must not suffer from tension when we lose possession.”
He concluded, “Throughout my career, I played many matches in the qualifying rounds, and my team was the favorite to win, and then we exited the tournament due to making mistakes. We must always remain vigilant.”
