Marca newspaper reported that Al-Ittihad club management has entered into negotiations with Real Madrid goalkeeper Kepa in order to sign him this summer.
This news represents a real crisis for the Royal Club, as the basic plan currently within Real Madrid is to buy Kepa’s contract from Chelsea if Andriy Lunin’s departure is confirmed.
Kepa did not initially object to the idea of moving to Al-Ittihad, especially since, according to Marca, the Saudi offer was very exceptional in financial terms.
Although he agreed in principle, Kepa asked for some time to make the final decision, and Ittihad administration gave him a short period of time to inform them of his firm position on partnering with Karim Benzema in Jeddah.
Ittihad is currently looking for a world-class foreign goalkeeper, after a season he spent with local goalkeeper Abdullah Al-Mayouf.
Kepa is not the only goalkeeper on Ittihad’s table, as there is Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson, and it was said that Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker is also an option.
The Spanish goalkeeper’s position currently depends on whether Lunin continues at Real Madrid or leaves, which is supposed to be determined within the next few days.
