Barcelona is playing with fire again… attempts to sign PSG star!

French press reports stated that the Barcelona administration has entered into negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain star Manuel Ugarte in order to obtain his signature this summer.

The Catalan club is looking for support in its midfield  in light of what is rumored that Frenkie de Jong may be sold during the current Mercato and Gavi needs more time to recover from his severe injury.

According to Le10Sport, Barca coach Hansi Flick admires Ugarte’s abilities and finds him the ideal support for the Blaugrana midfield.

The major crisis is that Ugarte’s contract with Paris Saint-Germain is still extended until 2028, with no penalty clauses, which will make the French club demand huge sums of money to accept his release.

At the same time, Barcelona is not the only club interested in acquiring Ugarte, as it finds competition from Manchester United, which appears to be in a much better economic condition than the Catalan club and has an advantage in closing the deal in its favor.

It remains to be noted that Paris Saint-Germain coach Luis Enrique informed the club’s management that Ugarte is in their account for next season and does not intend to leave under any name.

At the same time, Barcelona is taking a risk in its negotiations with the player due to its relationship with Paris Saint-Germain, and in light of the Parisian club’s economic strength, history may be repeated and Nasser Al-Khelaifi’s management will try to respond by including a player from the Hansi Flick squad.
