Reports: Barcelona reaches an agreement to sign Euro 2024 star

“Sport” newspaper confirmed that Barcelona officials have reached an agreement with Athletic Bilbao star Nico Williams to join the ranks of the Catalan club this summer.

According to the report, Barcelona’s sporting director, Deco, met with Williams’ agent last week, and the duo reached a preliminary agreement on the personal terms of the deal.

The matter now depends on Barcelona succeeding in agreeing with Athletic Bilbao on the deal, by either paying the penalty clause estimated at 60 million euros, or agreeing on another value.

However, “Sport” noted that the deal could fail in one case, which is that Barcelona does not move quickly, given that the 19-year-old player wants to decide his future quickly.

Barcelona has until the end of the first week of August to finalize the deal, otherwise Williams will not join, especially since he clearly expressed his desire not to cause any crises for Bilbao in finding his replacement.

Barcelona President, Joan Laporta, announced that Barcelona is economically capable of financing the Williams deal, so things are assumed to be under control and the deal will be completed quickly without crises.
