Will Deschamps be removed from France and replaced by Zidane?

The President of the French Football Federation, Philippe Diallo, announced that Didier Deschamps would continue in his position as coach of the France national team until the end of his contract at the end of the 2026 World Cup.

Deschamps failed to achieve Euro 2024 and exited the competition in the semi-finals following a 2-1 defeat to Spain in the semi-finals at Allianz Arena.

Immediately, rumors began to spread that the French Federation would dismiss Deschamps from his position after the mediocre level in which the “Roosters” showed, and that Zinedine Zidane, who had dreamed of coaching France for a long time, would succeed him.

Diallo responded to this in statements to the newspaper L’Equipe, saying, “Deschamps will continue with the French national team until at least the 2026 World Cup. He has succeeded in achieving our goal in Euro 2024, which is to reach the semi-finals.”

He also added, “There is no point in talking about Deschamps’ future. He has achieved many achievements previously and his results speak for themselves. He has always achieved our goals for us and he will continue his journey with us.”

He concluded, “We will meet with him to talk about what awaits us in the coming period and discuss what happened in the Euro. We will analyze the performance and try to raise our level. I confirm that there is extreme professionalism from everyone.”
