Spain national team coach, Luis de la Fuente, believes that two players from his team deserve to win the Ballon d’Or more than any other player, including Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Junior.
The Spanish national team is preparing to compete in the Euro 2024 final, when it meets the England national team at the Olympic Stadium in Berlin next Sunday.
De La Fuente spoke to the media and praised his players, saying, “Spanish footballers are the best in the world. Our style is well-known and many try to imitate us.”
He also added, “For me, Rodri and Dani Carvajal could be among the candidates to win the Ballon d’Or. Perhaps they are the ones who most deserve to win it.”
When asked about Lamine Yamal, he replied, “Lamine has a great foundation. I think football legends at his age lived in a similar situation, but I don’t want to put pressure on him to be at the same well-known level. He can do that, but without pressure.”
It is noteworthy that Yamal is the most prominent candidate to win the Golden Boy award, while the closest to the Golden Ball is the duo of Real Bellingham and Vinicius, despite recent repeated calls for at least one Spanish player to be included in this race.
