All English media reports indicate that it is unlikely that Jurgen Klopp will take over as England manager, replacing Gareth Southgate.
The “Three Lions” need to find a new manager for Southgate before next September, when their journey in the new edition of the UEFA Nations League begins with two matches against Ireland and Finland.
Klopp’s name has been put forward alongside many others such as Pep Guardiola, Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter as a possible candidate to coach England after his departure from Liverpool at the end of last season.
According to the “Metro” newspaper, Klopp has no intention of going back on his previous decision not to coach any club or national team for at least a year.
Klopp has previously said in this regard: “It is unlikely that I will retire from coaching completely, but I do not see myself able to continue at the same pace and I do not know what will happen in the future.”
Perhaps the German coach’s words hint in one way or another that he may welcome working for national teams in the future when he returns to coaching, but in this case England will have to wait for him until the summer of 2025.
It is worth noting that Klopp has rejected an offer in recent days to coach the United States national team.
