UEFA set to punish two Spanish stars due to politics

UEFA has announced that it is investigating the duo Álvaro Morata and Rodri for political chants they made during La Roja’s celebrations for winning Euro 2024.

Rodri and Morata had chanted “Gibraltar is Spanish” while they were in the Spanish capital Madrid, and as a result, the Gibraltar Football Association filed an official complaint against the players with UEFA.

According to a UEFA statement, the duo will be investigated immediately, and media reports indicate that a double penalty of suspension and a financial fine will be applied to them.

The Spanish newspaper AS has indicated that Morata, who recently joined Milan, and Rodri, the Manchester City star, will most likely face a two-match suspension from the Spanish national team.

It is worth noting that the Euro 2024 champions will reappear next September, when Luis de la Fuente’s squad will face Denmark and Serbia in the UEFA Nations League.
