Barcelona resorting to loans to finance summer “dream”

Mundo Deportivo has reported that Barcelona will resort to taking out a loan from a Catalan bank to finance the signing of Nico Williams to their ranks.

Barcelona needs €58 million to buy the 22-year-old, which is the release clause in his contract with Athletic Bilbao.

At the moment, Barcelona cannot afford to pay this amount, which has forced Joan Laporta’s administration to look for other options, with the idea of taking out a loan at the forefront.

This is not the first time Barcelona has considered borrowing, as there were attempts in May to obtain a €100 million loan, but these were frozen at the last minute.

Now the idea is back and strong, as the club will not have any trouble paying off the installments of this loan, on the one hand, and on the other hand, it will be able to balance its accounts in line with the rules of financial fair play.

It is worth noting that Barcelona’s sporting director, Deco, has met with Williams’ representatives in recent days, and negotiations between the two parties are progressing very positively on the personal terms of the deal.
