Officially: Atletico Madrid signs Real Madrid’s “executioner”

Atletico Madrid have announced the signing of Alexander Sorloth from Villarreal on a four-year deal.

Sorloth stood out last season, finishing as the second-highest scorer in La Liga with 23 goals.

The Villarreal striker became particularly famous when he managed to score a “super hat-trick” of four goals against Real Madrid in a 4-4 draw in La Liga.

Atletico Madrid are looking to replace Alvaro Morata with a new striker, and the initial target was to sign Artem Dovbyk from Girona, but the Ukrainian chose to join Roma.

Ultimately, 28-year-old Sorloth joined the Rojiblancos in a deal that cost the Madrid club 32 million euros, according to Marca.

The Norwegian has previously played for several clubs, including Danish club Midtjylland, Crystal Palace, Belgian club Gent, Turkish club Trabzonspor, German club Leipzig, Real Sociedad, and most recently Villarreal last season.
