Real Sociedad player Martin Zubimendi has informed Liverpool’s management of his rejection of the Reds’ offer to join them this summer.
The English club was prepared to pay €60 million to secure Zubimendi’s services, and the player has also received a number of other offers from top European clubs.
However, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Zubimendi has rejected Liverpool’s offer and decided to stay with Real Sociedad and will soon renew his contract with the Basque club.
The 26-year-old feels a sense of loyalty to Sociedad and does not want to cause a crisis for his club after the departure of Le Normand to Atletico Madrid and with Mikel Merino’s imminent move to Arsenal, the Basque club’s project would be in serious danger.
According to English newspapers, it is unlikely that Liverpool will try to make any other deal to strengthen their midfield, despite the Reds’ manager Jurgen Klopp asking the board to sign a new player in this position.
