Rumors have circulated in recent hours about Manchester City reaching an agreement with Luis Diaz to join the Premier League champions, with only an agreement with Liverpool remaining to be finalized.
This was reported by Spanish journalist Marcos Benito, who said that Diaz would sign a 5-year contract with City, while the Sky Blues are willing to pay Liverpool 70 million euros for the Colombian star.
However, reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano responded to this news by confirming that it is completely unfounded.
According to Romano, citing a source within Manchester City, there is no agreement between the club and Diaz, contrary to what has been reported, without specifying whether the player is actually on Pep Guardiola’s list to replace Julian Alvarez or if it is simply false rumors as well.
It is worth noting that “The Athletic” previously reported that Liverpool would not mind selling Diaz but would demand 58 million euros, while Barcelona remains the most interested in signing the former Porto player. After that, the surprising news came about City’s interest in the 27-year-old.
