Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed that Rodri will miss his side’s Premier League opener against Chelsea on Sunday.
The Spanish manager revealed that Rodri is not yet match fit.
Rodri represented Spain at Euro 2024, suffering an injury in the final. He has since returned and started individual training.
Guardiola said in his pre-match press conference: “Rodri hasn’t trained with the group yet, he’s not ready for matches yet.”
Rodri will be the second absentee for City against Chelsea alongside the injured youngster, Oscar Bobb, who suffered a broken leg. Guardiola revealed that Bob won’t return for another four months.
