Manchester City Set to Tie Down Their Star Amid Real Madrid Interest

The Mirror reports that Manchester City are set to offer midfielder Rodri a new and improved contract amid growing interest from across Europe, particularly Real Madrid.

The Spanish international, a key player in City’s recent successes under Pep Guardiola, is now considered a frontrunner for the Ballon d’Or. With Toni Kroos having retired, Real Madrid have been linked with a move for Rodri to fill the void in their midfield.

However, Manchester City are determined to fend off interest from the Spanish giants and other clubs by making Rodri one of the highest-paid players at the Etihad Stadium.

According to the report, City are planning to offer Rodri a new deal worth £375,000 per week, which would put him on a similar wage to Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland.

Although Rodri’s current contract runs until 2027, City are keen to tie him down to a new long-term deal to ward off interest from Real Madrid and other suitors.
