Official: Atletico Madrid Signs New Premier League Star

Atletico Madrid has officially announced the signing of Chelsea star Conor Gallagher.

Atletico had agreed terms with Gallagher a month ago, and the player had arrived in the Spanish capital to finalize the deal, before Chelsea backed out following the failure to sign Samuel Omorodion from the Rojiblancos.

Negotiations between the two teams resumed in recent days and were successful, with the England international signing a contract that will keep him at Wanda Metropolitano until the summer of 2029.

According to Spanish media, the deal cost Atletico Madrid’s coffers €42 million.

Chelsea’s agreement with Atletico to sign Joao Felix, which is expected to be officially announced within hours, contributed to the completion of the stalled Gallagher deal.

This is Atletico Madrid’s second major signing from the Premier League this summer, after paying over €70 million to secure the services of Manchester City star Julian Alvarez.

It is worth noting that the 24-year-old started his career at Chelsea and was loaned out to several clubs before settling at Stamford Bridge for the last two years, where he enjoyed a good career that led to his inclusion in the England national team.
