Barcelona Star Joins Atletico Madrid on Loan

Atletico Madrid have completed an agreement with Barcelona for the loan transfer of Clement Lenglet to the Madrid club for one year.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Lenglet will extend his contract with Barcelona for another year until the summer of 2027 and will move to Atletico Madrid on a free transfer this season.

Lenglet’s contract will not include a mandatory or optional purchase option for Atletico at the end of the loan, meaning the player will return to Barca in the summer of 2025.

The good news for Barcelona from this loan is that Atletico Madrid will pay a large part of Lenglet’s salary, thus relieving Barca’s coffers of this significant burden.

Perhaps the Frenchman’s move to the Rojiblancos will open the door for Barcelona to register Dani Olmo, especially with Ilkay Gundogan also leaving, and thus there will finally be a financial margin.
