Egyptian media confirms that Zamalek is close to concluding two new deals for professionals from Morocco.
Zamalek’s first goal this summer was to sign Ashraf Bencharki, but the Moroccan international is now close to returning to the Qatari league.
According to recent reports, Zamalek is very close to signing Karim El-Barkawi, the former striker for Al-Raed Saudi Club.
El-Barkawi, 28,’s contract with Al-Raed ended at the end of last season, so the deal will be free for the White Castle.
El-Barkawi scored 51 goals in 106 matches for Al-Raed in all competitions, and is considered one of the best strikers in the Saudi league in the last 3 years.
The second Moroccan deal is left-back Mahmoud Bentayg, who plays for Saint-Etienne in the French league.
Zamalek’s management agreed with Saint-Etienne to sign Bentayg on a one-year loan with an option to buy next summer.
Bentayg will be a replacement for Ahmed Fattouh, who is expected to be sentenced to prison after his recent incident. He will arrive in Cairo, as will Karim El-Barkawy, before the beginning of next September.
