The coach of the Dutch national team, Ronald Koeman, confirmed that Steven Bergwijn will not play again for the windmills due to his move to the Saudi League.
Al-Ittihad Club announced its contract with Bergwijn coming from Ajax in a deal estimated at 25 million euros.
It seems that the transfer of the former Tottenham player to the Saudi League has angered Koeman so much that he confirmed his deprivation from representing the Netherlands as long as he is the coach.
Koeman said in a press conference on Tuesday, “Bergwijn moved to Saudi Arabia at the age of 26, it is clear that this has nothing to do with sporting ambition.”
He added, “Bergwijn’s career with the Dutch coach has ended, he will not join us and I am the coach.”
It is worth noting that the Dutch national team will face Bosnia and Herzegovina and then Germany, on September 7 and 10 in the European Nations League competitions.
