Al Arabiya channel confirmed that the Saudi Football Federation has started negotiating with coach Herve Renard in the past few days to return and coach the Saudi national team again.
Renard left Saudi Arabia in April 2023 to coach the French women’s team, but he failed to achieve any noteworthy achievement there and left at the end of his contract after the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Renard’s lack of association with any team or club coincided with a significant decline in the results of the Saudi national team and many crises facing the players with their current coach, Roberto Mancini.
According to the latest report, the intention inside Saudi Arabia is currently to dismiss Mancini and bring back Renard again, especially since the latter is widely accepted by the public as well as the national team players.
Saudi Arabia had tied with Indonesia at the beginning of the third round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, then won with difficulty against the Chinese national team outside the country.
The relationship between Mancini and the players is said to be very bad, and the Italian has come out more than once and criticized the Saudi League’s policy of recruiting foreign players and considered that it affects local players.
In one way or another, Renard confirmed that negotiations between him and Saudi Arabia are ongoing, after he posted a photo on his Instagram account from the Saudi Arabia and Argentina match in the 2022 World Cup.
Then the Frenchman spoke to the media and answered the truth about the existence of a Saudi offer for him by saying, “This is a private matter, I cannot answer this secret question.”
He concluded, “Since April 2023, I have left the Saudi national team, and I always follow all its matches, as well as the Saudi League matches.”
