Bayern Munich announced in an official statement that its right-back Sascha Boey suffered a severe injury that will keep him off the field for several weeks.
According to the statement, Boey was injured during training and suffers from a torn cartilage in his left knee and underwent surgery on Monday.
According to the newspaper “Bild”, Boey will be absent for at least two months due to this injury and not just weeks as Bayern announced.
The injury of the former Galatasaray player is a big blow to coach Vincent Kompany, given the injury of Josip Stanisic as well and his absence until next December.
Thus, Bayern Munich no longer has a player in the right-back position, and accordingly, Kompany will most likely return one of the duo Konrad Laimar or Joshua Kimmich from midfield to temporarily fill the gap.
It is worth noting that this is the second major injury Boey has suffered with Bayern since joining last January, as he was absent from March until the end of last season due to a muscle tear.
