The Egyptian League Association announced a change in the competition system in the 2024-2025 season version in what it called an “exceptional season”.
The Egyptian League suffered from a postponed crisis over the last 3 versions, which necessitated a change in the competition format for a season or more to return the competition to the usual times and not pressure the players.
The Egyptian League will be played in the new season with a single round system, where each team will play 17 matches.
Based on the first round ranking, the teams will be divided into two groups, the first for the title and includes the first 9 teams, and the second for relegation and includes from tenth to 18th place.
The change will include the relegation of only two teams from the Premier League to the first division, while 3 teams from the Professional League will qualify for the Premier League as usual.
Accordingly, the Egyptian League in the 2025-2026 season will witness the participation of 19 clubs, so the association announced that the system for the next season will be discussed in the middle of the next season.
The league draw will be held at the beginning of October, and the competition will start in late October after the Egyptian Super Cup in the Emirates, and will end in the first week of June.
