Al-Ahly celebrated winning the 2023-2024 Egyptian League title at Cairo International Stadium after the end of the Gor Mahia match in the African Champions League.
The Red Devils succeeded in reaching the round of 16 of the Champions League after repeating their victory over Gor Mahia 3-0 to qualify with a total of 6-0 to the group stage.
After the match, the announced ceremony was held at Cairo International Stadium for Al-Ahly to raise the Egyptian League shield for last season.
The Egyptian Clubs Association announced a new shield other than the old historical shield of the Egyptian League, and Al-Ahly captain Mohamed El-Shennawy actually received it to raise it in celebration of achieving the 44th title in the history of the African Century Club.
The strange paradox is that while El-Shennawy was raising the new shield, its base broke and fell to the ground, amid everyone’s astonishment, given the enormous cost of manufacturing the shield and the strength it is supposed to contain.
Ultimately, this did not affect Al-Ahly’s celebrations, as they prepare to face Zamalek next Friday in the African Super Cup in Saudi Arabia.
