Marca newspaper confirmed that La Liga will not punish Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham after the cameras caught him uttering obscene words towards the referee of the Espanyol match on Saturday.
The England international expressed his objection to one of the referee’s decisions, and the cameras showed him saying to him inside the Santiago Bernabeu stadium, “You are a piece of filth.”
Many expected that Bellingham would be punished with a suspension or a fine, just as happened last year with Robert Lewandowski when he did something similar.
However, according to Marca newspaper, the Technical Committee of Referees will not take any measures or sanctions against Bellingham.
Complaints from the Technical Committee of Referees are usually submitted to La Liga only when the player makes statements attacking the refereeing, whether on the field or during a press conference.
In Bellingham’s case, the Technical Committee of Referees will not take action, and in order for the player to be punished, a third party must take action, as happened in the Greenwood and Bellingham crisis last year, for example.
