Al Ain star, Khalid Al Balushi, confirmed that he is not afraid of facing Al Ahly in the second round of the 2024 Intercontinental Cup.
Al Ain passed the first round after a crushing victory over Auckland City 6-2 on Sunday at Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium, to set a date with Al Ahly at Cairo International Stadium at the end of October.
Al Balushi spoke to Abu Dhabi Sports Channel after the match and said about facing Al Ahli, “Al Ain is not afraid of facing any team in the world.”
He also added, “Al Ain is the Asian champion and is always proud against African teams, and we will be up to this challenge.”
As for another star from Al Ain, Sofiane Rahimi, he spoke about the upcoming confrontation, saying, “It will be a big match, especially since it will be played in Cairo with a large audience.”
He concluded, “I hope that Al Ain will achieve a positive result and succeed in qualifying for the semi-finals.”
If Al Ain overcomes Al Ahly, it will await the winner of the “Derby of the Americas” between Mexican Pachuca and the Copa Libertadores champion, to face it in the semi-finals in Doha.
