Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior has been informed that he is the winner of the 2024 Ballon d’Or, according to Marca.
France Football magazine has revealed the 30 names nominated for the Ballon d’Or, with the list set to be reduced to just three before the ceremony scheduled for October 28.
According to Marca, the French magazine has already contacted Vinicius and informed him that he has received the majority of votes and that he will be the one to win the highest individual award in the world of football for the past year.
Vinicius led Real Madrid to win the Champions League, in addition to winning the Spanish League, and participated with Brazil in the Copa America but was eliminated early in the quarter-finals.
Vinicius’ main competitor was Manchester City star Rodri after winning Euro 2024 with Spain and the Premier League with Manchester City, but the journalists’ votes went in favor of the Brazilian star.
Vinicius will be the first Brazilian player to win the Ballon d’Or since 2007 when Kaka won the award, and the fourth overall from the Samba country after Ronaldo, Ronaldinho and Kaka.
