Al-Ahli star, Riyad Mahrez, considered that the Saudi Investment Fund did not support his club in the required manner in the last summer market, which is the secret behind the team’s recent decline in results.
Al-Ahli had bid farewell to the King’s Cup early with a surprising loss to Al-Jandal 2-1 in the round of 32, then lost in the Saudi League 1-0 to Al-Qadisiyah on Friday.
After the match, Mahrez spoke to the media, saying, “We did not receive the great support like the rest of the big clubs in Saudi Arabia, so it is natural that we suffer more than them.”
He also added, “We have to stick together, continue working, and unite our ranks as players, management, and fans. We are going through a difficult stage, and such things always happen in football.”
He concluded, “I am a player who does not like defeat, and of course I am not happy. We tried to recover after their goal, but we were not lucky and what we presented was not enough to get the desired result.”
It is noteworthy that Mahrez, in 7 participations with Al-Ahli in all tournaments, did not succeed in scoring any goals, but he made two goals, one in the AFC Champions League for the elite and another in the Saudi Super Cup, and he remains without scoring contributions in the league so far.
