Stamford Bridge witnessed a historic evening by all standards for Cole Palmer, after he scored 4 goals for Chelsea against Brighton.
Brighton took the lead in the seventh minute through Rutter, but Palmer responded with three consecutive goals in the 21st, 28th and 31st minutes, before Baleba reduced the deficit for the visitors, then Palmer responded again with the fourth goal in the 41st minute.
Palmer became the first player in the history of the English Premier League to score a super hat-trick in the first half.
The England international raised his goal tally this season in the Premier League to 6 goals, 4 goals behind the leader and Manchester City star Erling Haaland.
Palmer equaled the historic record of scoring three goals “hat-trick” in one match for Chelsea, as this was his third, equaling the legends Didier Drogba and Frank Lammarde.
But what makes Palmer’s record unique is that it came after just two seasons with the Blues and in just 39 games, which shows the extent of the brilliance that the former Manchester City player is experiencing.
Chelsea won 4-2 at Brighton to reach 13 points and with it occupy second place temporarily until the completion of the sixth round matches.
