Marca newspaper revealed that Real Madrid’s management has decided to end Raul Gonzalez’s career as Castilla’s technical director at the end of this season.
The Merengue legend has been coaching the youth team for the past 6 years, during which he was nominated more than once for promotion and work in the first team after proving his abilities as a promising coach.
However, Florentino Perez saw that it was time to end Raul’s relationship with Castilla, with Alvaro Arbeloa taking over the team’s coaching mission starting next season.
In principle, Real Madrid’s management does not want Raul to leave the club, but will seek to find an alternative role for him, and this matter will be discussed in the coming months.
There is currently an idea for Raul to work in the technical staff of the first team, just as happened with Zinedine Zidane, in preparation for him taking over the responsibility of coaching the royal club in the future.
The second idea is for him to take a senior position in the academy that is more closely linked to management, although it is unlikely that he would agree to that given his strong desire to work in the field of coaching.
It is worth noting that Raul received more than one coaching offer in recent months, the last of which was Schalke, but he preferred to continue with Real Madrid.
