The sports advisor to the Barcelona municipality, David Escudi, dropped a big surprise when he confirmed that the Santiago Bernabeu stadium cannot host the 2030 World Cup final because it “does not meet the specifications”.
Spain will host the 2030 World Cup with Portugal and Morocco, and the competition is fierce between the country of the matador and the “free-born” over the stadium that will host the final match.
It was said that Real Madrid’s stronghold, Santiago Bernabeu, is the closest, while Barcelona believes that its Camp Nou stadium, after the expansions, will be the ideal choice, while Morocco wants to host the final at the new Casablanca stadium.
Escudi spoke about this controversy in clear terms, saying, “It is surprising to me that the Santiago Bernabeu stadium is being put forward to host the final match”.
He also added, “The Madrid stadium does not meet FIFA specifications”.
“The real competition to host the 2030 World Cup final will be between Camp Nou and the new Moroccan stadium being built in Casablanca,” he concluded.
