Real Madrid star Luka Modric expressed his pride in reaching his 250th win with the royal club in La Liga.
By participating against Celta Vigo on Saturday, Modric became the oldest player to participate in Real Madrid’s history at the age of 39 years and 40 days.
Modric also became the oldest player in Real Madrid’s history to provide an assist after setting up Vinicius Junior’s goal that led the Merengue to a 2-1 win at Balaídos.
In a message to the fans, the Croatian international said: “We are happy to achieve this difficult victory, it was important to win today, I am very happy to win my 250th match in La Liga, let’s continue on this path.”
He added: “I feel good physically and mentally, I am playing and that is exactly what I want, but the most important thing for me is the team.”
As for his age, he said, “I don’t really like being reminded of my age, but it’s great and I’m very proud to be the oldest player in Real Madrid’s history.”
He concluded, “It’s difficult to choose one great moment for me with Real Madrid, a lot has happened to me here, I’m proud and happy to play for this club and achieve all the collective and individual titles it has achieved.”
It is worth noting that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez presented Modric with a shirt bearing the number 250 after the Celta Vigo match, celebrating the player and his huge achievement in La Liga.
