Emam Ashour took advantage of Al-Ahly’s crowning of the Egyptian Super Cup title at the expense of Zamalek to offer support to his close friend Mahmoud Kahraba, and respond to his crisis with Nabil Emad Dunga.
Al-Ahly had announced the deportation of Kahraba after he caused a crisis with coach Marcel Koller following the semi-final victory over Ceramica Cleopatra.
At the same time, Dunga, the Zamalek player, had previously made statements attacking Emam Ashour against the backdrop of a dispute between them in the African Super Cup match last month.
Emam Ashour was not called up to the last Egyptian national team camp, and it seems that with Al-Ahly’s victory, the player decided that it was time to respond to all these matters.
Emam began supporting Kahraba by wearing his shirt during the title coronation, and later in media statements he said about him, “Kahraba is the closest person to me in this world and the one who helps me the most in the team.”
He added, “It is not true that Kahraba is taking me out of focus, we missed him a lot today and no matter how much I talk about him, I will not give him his due.”
As for Dunga, he said, “There is a player who, when asked about me, said he did not know me, even though he was in contact with me to attend Ramadan tournaments so that he could win, but God willing, his ordeal will pass well. He is Nabil Emad, Mostafa Shalaby and Abdel Wahed El-Sayed, and this is the most important thing.”
He concluded about the Egyptian national team, “I doubt that I am Nigerian and not Egyptian, and I think that my message has been understood.”
