Historic event.. Official request to hold the Barcelona and Atletico match in America

La Liga has officially submitted a request to hold the Barcelona and Atletico Madrid match in the United States of America for the first time in history.

For many years, La Liga has dreamed of holding one of the El Clasico matches or the summits of the competition in general outside Spain in the hope of increasing and doubling the financial returns.

In the past, FIFA prohibited the matter, but in recent months it issued a law granting the right to hold league matches outside the country.

According to the newspaper “Mundo Deportivo”, La Liga submitted a request to the Spanish Federation to transfer it to UEFA to hold the Barcelona and Atletico Madrid match in the American city of Miami at Hard Rock Stadium, the home of the Miami Dolphins team.

The match is supposed to be held at the Olympic Stadium, the home of Barcelona, but the Catalan club welcomes the match being moved to America due to the very large economic returns.

The Spanish Federation is supposed to study the request submitted by La Liga before presenting it to UEFA to issue the final decision.

UEFA must accept or reject the idea by December 1, and if it does, the match will be played on its scheduled date of December 21 or 22 in the United States.

This match will thus be the first in the history of football leagues to be played outside the country that owns the league.
