Shocking decision from CAF regarding the result of the cancelled Nigeria-Libya match

The Disciplinary Committee of the Confederation of African Football announced that the Libyan national team had lost 3-0 to Nigeria in the match that was cancelled two weeks ago.

The two teams were supposed to play at the Martyrs of Benina Stadium in the fourth round of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, before Nigeria withdrew due to poor treatment.

The Nigerian team sat at the airport in Libya for about two days, with no logistics provided, and the Libyans considered this a response to the similar treatment in the first leg match between them in Nigeria.

After Nigeria withdrew, the matter was referred to the Disciplinary Committee, which surprised everyone by deciding to award the points of the match to Nigeria and impose a fine of $50,000 on Libya.

According to Libyan media, the Libyan Federation will appeal the decision and will not accept it and even threatened to withdraw from CAF if it is implemented!

Nigeria is leading the group with 7 points, and if it adds three more points to its tally, it will have officially qualified for the CAN, while Libya is at the bottom of the group with only one point.
