Al-Ahly did not find it difficult to cross the gate of Al-Ain, and defeat the Emirati club 3-0 in the match that was held at Cairo International Stadium.
Thanks to this victory, Al-Ahly was crowned champion of what is known as the Africa-Asia-Pacific Cup, as it defeated the Asian champion who defeated the Oceania champion Auckland City last month.
Al-Ahly’s double came through Wessam Abu Ali in the 32nd minute and Imam Ashour in the 55th minute, to officially qualify for the semi-finals of the 2024 Intercontinental Cup.
Al-Ahly will meet in Qatar with the winner of the match between the North American champion (Pachuca) and the Copa Libertadores champion, which has not yet been determined, in a match called the “Derby of the Americas”, in the semi-finals.
The semi-final match will also be a special championship match, as was the case against Al-Ain, and this tournament is called the “Challenge Cup”.
If Al Ahly wins the Challenge Cup on December 11, they will face European champions Real Madrid in the 2024 Intercontinental Cup final on December 14 at Lusail Stadium.
It should be noted that Al Ahly has already earned $2 million thanks to its victory over Al Ain.
