Borussia Dortmund management has begun to raise the idea of dismissing Nuri Sahin from coaching the team if the results continue to decline in the coming period.
Dortmund bid farewell to the German Cup in the round of 32 after suffering a defeat against Wolfsburg on Tuesday in extra time by a clean goal.
Over the past week, the “yellow and black” played 3 matches in 3 tournaments, all of which they lost, starting with 5-3 against Real Madrid in the Champions League, 2-1 against Augsburg in the Bundesliga, and finally against Wolfsburg in the Cup.
Despite the supportive statements made by sports director Sebastian Kehl and his confirmation that Nuri Sahin will remain in his position, the “Sky” network confirms that the future of the Turkish is in imminent danger.
Dortmund management will give Sahin a last chance to save his position, but if the results continue as they are in the coming period, he will be ousted immediately.
According to Sky, former Bayer Leverkusen and Benfica coach Roger Schmidt is the first candidate to succeed Sahin at Signal Iduna Park.
The 57-year-old was sacked by Benfica in August and could welcome a return to the Bundesliga after 7 years away since his experience with Leverkusen.
It is worth noting that Dortmund is ranked seventh in the German league standings with 13 points from 4 wins, 1 draw and 3 defeats in 8 rounds in the Bundesliga so far.
